What Is The Iditarod ??
On The Ice
The Iditarod is a type of race where people race and it is usually in March. Mushers are people that can be any gender. You can have up to 10-20 dogs. This race can take anywhere from 12-20 days. The 1st place winner gets a huge prize, like money or a new car. The shortest time it took someone to run the race is 8 day 3 hours 40 minutes and 13 seconds
To prepare for the race you need to make sure the dogs are healthy and able to run. You would want a dog thats too old to race because they might pass away while racing, but you also dont want a dog to young because they still need to be trained to listen and run. You need to make sure the dogs get enough sleep, along with you. You need to feed the dogs.
When your on the ice you need to be super careful because many things could happen. For example the ice could break, you could fall off and the dogs keep running, you could get hut, or you can lose dogs.
