  • Rising Action
  • A rich man in a certain town once owned a dog and a cat, both of which were very useful to him. The dog had served his master for many years and had become so old that he had lost his teeth and was unable to fight any more. But he was a good guide and companion to the cat who was strong and cunning. The master had a daughter who was attending school at a convent some distance from home, and very often, he sent the dog and the cat with presents to the girl.
  • Climax
  • He summoned the faithful animals one day and instructed them to deliver a magical ring to his daughter. He told the card, "You are strong and brave." "You may carry the ring, but be cautious not to drop it," he said to the cat, and to the dog, he said, "You must accompany the cat to lead her and keep her safe." They agreed to do their best and set out. Everything went smoothly until they reached a river. Because there was no bridge or boat, the only way to cross was to swim. He summoned the faithful animals one day and instructed them to deliver a magical ring to his daughter.
  • Falling Action
  • The dog grabbed a magic ring as they attempted to swim into the river. "I am strong and capable of taking care of it," the dog explained, "and you can't swim." The cat would not relinquish the ring until the dog threatened to kill her, at which time she grudgingly relinquished it.
  • Resolution
  • ffrfrrf...
  • The cat and dog were both fatigued since the river was broad and the water was swift, and the dog misplaced the ring just as they reached the other bank. They searched the area but were unable to locate anything, so they returned to their owner to inform him of their unfortunate loss. However, just as the dog was about to enter the house, he became so afraid that he turned around and bolted, never to be seen again.
  • The cat continued her own, and when the master spotted her approaching, he asked as to why she had returned so quickly and what had happened to her companion. The poor cat was terrified, but she recounted how the ring had gone missing and how the dog had run away. When the master heard her story, he became enraged and ordered that all his people and all the dogs to join the search, and that it bepunished by having its tail cut off.
  • Since then, whenever a dog meets another, he asks, "Are you the old dog that misplaced the magic ring?" If that's the case, your tail must be severed. "Then, to establish that he is not the guilty one, each exposes his fangs and waggles his tail. Cats have been scared of water since then, and if they can avoid it, they will not swim across a river.
