  • It's 1892, Mia and Walter are leaving Austria, Germany to go to New York in America to find a better life and make something out of themselves. 
  • Father where exactly are we heading to? How far is it from Austria?  
  • We will be sailing to America! It's about 5,198 miles from where we are about.
  • But father, I don't want to leave Austria! I love it here. :(
  • Although Mia doesn't want to leave Germany, she must go due to civil unrest, severe unemployment and the hardships being faced such as famine and disease. 
  • Trust me on this one Mi, America is where the future is, you'll gladly make new friends and find a great working environment. 
  • 5 days later... (Ellis Island Immigration Station)
  • Yes Sir!
  • TEAM! Take this man's ship. NOW.
  • Welcome to America!  You may leave your ship and come aboard. We have your citizen papers.
  • *Speaks German* Father! This little girl is staring at me. 
  • They were forced to change their last name from Fischer to Johnson. They could not speak German in public. 
  •  Mi Sh! You cannot speak German here.. the soldier is watching us. 
  • Psss.. Ben this little immigrant doesn't know anything! She's an airhead,  bet she doesn't even know what we're saying. 
  • I'll have you know just because I'm not from this country doesn't mean that I'm an imbecile! I am a skilled individual. You have no right of disrespecting me!
  • Mia and her father do not leave America, however they are stuck dealing with Americans looking over them simply because they are immigrants
