  • Ships bearing Knanaya Thomman and his aides on thier way to Muziris
  • They arrived at Muziris port and was received by the people.
  • The Chieftain requested them to be served the traditional "pidi" (rice dumplings)
  • Rice dumplings were served with chicken curry because they were non-vegetarians.
  • They enjoyed the dish. Hence the entry of pidi-kozhi into the cuisine of the Syrian Christian Commmunity
  • Today, the dish is beloved in many malayalee households. However, it is often made by the older generation and not passed down, causing a fear of extinction.
