Storyboard Text

  • I am a Medieval nun. I was placed into a convent by my family, and that is how I became a nun.
  • There are different ways to become a nun, as older women could become nuns as well.
  • Some daily jobs that we nuns performed included washing and cooking, farming, and raising the necessary supplies of vegetables and grain.
  • The daily life of nuns was based on three main vows, which were The Vow of Poverty, The Vow of Chastity, and The Vow of Obedience.
  • In the Middle Ages, nuns were usually from the wealthy groups in society. However, this changed later on.
  • A-B-C-D-E-F-G...
  • The life of us nuns appealed to many women, as some of us were taught to read and write.
  • Us nuns lived in nunneries, which depended on economic support from members of the nobility.
  • Kings and queens, in particular, founded religious institutes and donated land and money.
