  • Okay class good morning! Our topic for today is all about the Philippine history of Pottery.
  • OWW! Sounds interesting. Ma'am what is pottery all about?
  • The other information that I search in google is that according to o Scheans, in the Philippinespots are built in two ways: from the base up or fromthe rim down. But when Chinese traders startedtrading in the Philippines their beliefs, culture andart was introduced. The Filipinos adapted it whichthen became part of their lives (their culture, art, beliefs, etc.). One of it is the pottery, the techniquesof how Chinese create a pot, a porcelain, everythingwas introduced and taught to Filipinos. It spreadthroughout the Philippine islands.
  • Pottery was introducedfrom different civilizations and was accepted, developed, changed – adapted. Taboc, San Juan, LaUnion was one of the places where in the culture and the art of pottery were flourish andmodernized.
  • Pots are considered useful in the field ofgardening. They serve as containers for plants, they help beautify the landscape and sometimesthey are used as practical materials for growingplants. Ollas (pronounced “oy-yahs”) are unglazedclay/terra-cotta pots with a bottle or tapered shapethat are buried in the ground with the top/neckexposed above the soil surface and filled with waterfor sub-surface irrigation of plants. And the bell was kriiiiiing!
  • So that pottery all about? Awesome! Thankyou ma'am for the information that you share to us.
