Storyboard Text

  • By Anika & Linda
  • Thomas Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, his secretaries, to take an expedition to explore the Louisiana territory that had just been purchased.
  • I am sending you and Clark to explore some land!
  • Lewis and Clark explored the Louisiana territory, but faced some difficulties.
  • Lewis and Clark then came across a tribe, and encountered Sacagawea, a Native American woman, who they ended up taking along with them for the rest of their journey.
  • Come with us!
  • Hi there, I'm Sacagawea. Where are you headed?
  • The group came across newly found plants and water, which gave them the idea that people could live there.
  • Wow! Plants! Water!
  • Lewis and Clark reported their findings to Jefferson. They told him that the land was usable and could support settlements. This then contributed to the development of Louisiana.
  • Thank you so much for going on this expedition!
