Philosophers at the Areopagus
Acts 17: 16-34
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with the justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.
Paul arrives in Athens where Silas and Timothy would soon meet him. He soon realized that the city was full of idols and people who worship many Gods. He tried to reason with the people in the synagogue, market place or wherever people would talk to him.
One day, he got into a discussion with Epicurean and Stoic philosophers and they invited him to the meeting of Aeropagus which iswhere they brought people to listen to their new ideas.
At the meeting, Paul proclaimed the good news and encouraged people to repent. He told them about the resurrection of the dead and many people sneered and did not believe him and after that Paul left. However, some of the people listening became followers of Paul.
