•Direct Characterization: Professional gambler •Indirect Characterization : Mr.Oakhurst is a good person he gave Tom Simson his money back after winning all of the card games •Round Character : Mr.Oakhurst is the strongest and weakest out of the outcast he shows extreme calmness and leadership. •Dynamic Character : Harte slowly begins to show a lighter side of Mr. Oakhurst through dynamic characterization It is showed through his act of returning Tom Simson’s money to him after he lost it all to Mr. Oakhurst.
•Direct Characterization: Prostitute •Indirect Characterization: Mother Shipton shows her acts of kindness by sharing her rationing and starving herself • Dynamic Character : Mother Shipton changes from a self centered woman in the profession of a prostistute to a tender and lovingly woman and she shows this by keeping Piney comfort in the freezing cabin while they die.
• Direct Characterization: Pure and Innocent •Indirect Characterization: Piney is not much of a judgemental girl she engages in conversations with Mother Shipton and Duchess this shows she doesn't look at appearances but rather more the heart • Dynamic Character she stays pure and innocent throughout the story she does not change
