  • Eckels's fear gets the better of him, and without realizing what he is doing, he steps off of the path, kills a butterfly, and changes the results of the election.

  • Far bird's cries blew on a wind, and the smell of tar and an old salt, sea, moist grasses, and flowers the color of blood.
