the five people you meet in heaven
This storyboard does not have a description.
Eddie, the maintenance man at Ruby Pier, is killed by a falling cart because he tries to save Amy or Annie, a girl at the pier. He feels 2 small hands in his as he drifts off into emotionless color. The color changing skies he sees as he drifts belong to heaven.
Eddie is to meet five people in heaven who will explain his life on Earth. The first person he meets is a blue man from the freak show at Ruby Pier. The Blue Man explains to Eddie that everything is connected, showing him an example from his life. The example is from when Eddie ran out in front of a car when he was very young. The driver of that car was the Blue man, who died of a heart attack because of young Eddie.
At the end of the lesson, the Blue Man's skin becomes a shimmering caramel color and he disappears.
The second person Eddie meets is his Captain from when he fought in the war. The Captain teaches Eddie that sacrifice isn't a loss, it is merely passing something on.
At the end of the lesson, the war torn landscape around them becomes a luscious green field.
The third person Eddie meets is named Ruby, and Ruby Pier was named after her by her husband, Emile. Eddie sees his abusive father in the snowy diner and immediately feels anger. But Ruby shows Eddie that his father did have love in his heart, and his father saved his best friend from drowning even after all the horrid things he'd done. Ruby teaches Eddie that anger is a poison, and that his father was sorry.
At the end of the lesson, Eddie forgives his father
The fourth person Eddie meets is his wife, Marguerite. Marguerite died of a brain tumor at age 47, leaving Eddie alone for the rest of his life. Marguerite and Eddie spend days, weeks, and months together in heaven, talking for hours about anything and everything and visiting countless weddings. Though Eddie felt as if he'd never see Marguerite again, Marguerite teaches Eddie that lost love is still love
During the war, Eddie was shot in the leg by his Captain because Eddie thought he saw someone in the fire and tried to save them. The fifth person Eddie meets is Tala, the girl who he thought he saw in the fire. Eddie feels guilt and remorse because he set fire to the huts, but Tala helps him let go of his guilt by having him wash away her burns with a stone. Eddie had always felt that he lived a meaningless life after the war, but Tala teaches him that keeping the rides safe at Ruby Pier saved thousands of lives. She teaches him that he lived a meaningful life, and that everyone has a purpose.
At the end of the lesson, Tala brings Eddie to Marguerite at Ruby Pier, where he will wait to be one of someone else's five people
