Cheyanne, a 25-year-old female, was a bright intelligent lawyer who recently got a job with a prestigious law firm. She met the man of her dreams, Nate, and eventually fell in love and got married. She believed her life was perfect.
Oh Cheyanne, I really love our new apartment.
Our perfect life together has just begun!
Just leave me alone and mind your own business!
Little did she know that her husband Nate was hiding a dirty secret. He had a violent temper and had an uncontrollable side to him when he drank that she never saw before. Unknown to Cheyanne, Nate had quit drinking years ago due to this problem but started again.
Oh no! I did not realize he was like this....
She gets home late from work one day to discover that he had drank a whole bottle of alcohol while waiting for her. He began to shout at her questioning why she out so late. When she tried to explain that she got tied up at work, he accused her of lying and pushed and slapped her causing her to fall into the coffee table cutting her head.
Fearing for her life, Cheyanne ran across the street to her neighbours house and got them to call the police and ambulance. Within minutes police arrived and interviewed Cheyanne. While the ambulance was treating her cut, the police arrested Nate and brought him to the police station.
You're under arrest for assault.
I did nothing wrong! I love my wife.
Nate was eventually sentenced to 6 months in prison and Cheyanne remained in the house and was able to carry on with her successful career and life. Several social service agencies assured Cheyanne that she would be safe and that she had nothing to worry about regarding Nate.
I am so grateful that I'm safe now because the police and court system are protecting me
4 months later... Nate was released from prison but he was extremely angry and wanted revenge on Cheyanne for what he thought was ruining his life. He would call her constantly, follow her to work, and leave her letters threatening that he was going to kill her. Fearing that it would just make him more angry, Cheyanne decided not to call the police.
