Why does an apple fall downwards from a tree but not upwards or sidewards?
May Sir Issac Newton Rest in Peace. Amen.
Sir Isaac Newton was born on the 25th of December 1642 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire in the morning. He had very little chance of survival as he was premature. There was also a civil war and a plague occurring at that time in England. Although the war and plague were occurring the Hamlet of Woolsthorpe was not affected by either.
From reference of Isaac Newton's biographies the story of the falling apple goes like this. One night after dinner it was still quite warm so Issac Newton went to the garden and drank some tea under the shade of an apple tree in his backyard. He was thinking to himself why did an apple fall downwards from a tree but not upwards or sidewards? andthat is how the story from his biography ends...
Sir Issac Newton died on the 20th of March, 1727 at 84 years of age. He was buried in Westminster Abbey. He was celebrated as a national philosopher and was a national hero. Newton's goal was to bring theology and mathematics to discover a single system of the world.
