Storyboard Text

  • I'll examine you again.
  • How's the back?
  • 6 months later
  • Not good, Doc.
  • I didn't find anything unusual on exam this time either.
  • I agree. Let's run some tests and get an X-ray.
  • What the!? 6 months of pain is unusual.
  • Sure. I'll give you enough to last until we meet for your follow up appointment
  • Let's follow up in a week or 2 and go over the results.
  • Could I get some more of those pills?
  • How are the results, Doc?
  • Pretty normal actually
  • Please don't let it be cancer...or a slipped disc...or
  • 6 1/2 months later
  • There is some wear and tear of the lumbar joints but nothing dangerous.
  • Why am I in so much pain then?
  • That's the billion dollar question but you aren't alone: back pain is the number one reason people seek medical care. Most back aches resolve within 3 months but when they persist, like yours, they can be very stubborn to resolve.
  • Well we've tried antiinflammatories, muscle relaxers and narcotics and it's not improving. The next step is steroids.
  • What should I do?
  • They sure can!
  • I think I'll try the chiropractor and massage. I can't afford it right now but who needs a new furnace?
  • Don't those have some pretty bad side effects
