Florida was first formed over 530 million years ago by the activity of volcanoes and marine sediments.
Florida then became apart of Gondwanaland. Florida then separated from continent about 300 million years ago.
But Florida was wedged between North America and the remaining parts of Gondwanaland. They then joined together to form the super continent Pangea. Florida was left behind when Pangea began to break up.
Florida was slipped under water by North America, they later joined together but Florida was still shallowly submerged underwater.
The mountains next to Florida, Appalachian Mountains eventually began to erode. All it's sand, rocks, dirt and clay were all deposited on top of the land under the water.
That is how Florida was formed, for most of the time throughout history Florida was underwater. After the build up of the remains of the Appalachian Mountains, Florida was formed.
