There once was a man named Orpheus. He was the son of the one of the muses and a Thracian Prince. Being the son of a muse, he was gifted with the power of music. No one or thing could resist his gift of song.
With this power, Orpheus could seduct any woman he wanted. However, the tale of how and where he met his true love Eurydice is unknown. She was all Orpheus cared about. She was the light of his life.
They were married. But this marriage had no happy ending. Right after the wedding, Eurydice was stung by a viper and fell over dead. Grief took over Orpheus. He wanted her back more than anything.
Orpheus took a journey to where no living man would dare go to. Orpheus went to the underworld to claim back his wife. He soothed Cerberus, the three headed dog, with a song and continued his quest to free Eurydice.
At last, Orpheus found Hades. He demanded Eurydice back through song. His musical talents were irresistible even to the God of the underworld. Hades freed Eurydice but under one condition, that as they are ascending back to earth, Orpheus will not look back on Eurydice.
The two lovers were on their way back to live their lives happily. Orpheus climbed out of the cavern first. He turned to Eurydice to check on her, but he turned to her too early. She fell back into the underworld whispering "Farewell". Orpheus tried to grab her but it was too late. She was gone forever. Orpheus had failed. He had lost her again.
