[Insert Uplifting Melody] "It's so incredible. For over 2 decades our amazing community has united once a year to help clean up Purcell Park and Blacks Run River. It's a tradition that Harrisonburg is proud of and continues to cherish."
[Voice Over Static Image Of Polluted River, Down Tempo Music] "Anything that goes into a storm pipe gets directly discharged into Blacks Run. That means trash in our parking lots or our streets — the next time it rains — it's going to get washed into Blacks Run."
Blacks River is polluted with over 4 tons of litter every year
[Back to Uplifting Music] Family picking up trash, while smiling and laughing.
"I walk by this creek everyday on the way to school. It's normally gross and I stay away from it. Today I helped make the river beautiful again. I even planted sunflower seeds by the water. Now when I walk to school I'll see a clean river and my flowers. " [Shots of children planting flowers.]
Boy: "It feels really great to connect with my community and know that I'm making a difference." Girl: "The global plastic problem is so huge and this is one concrete thing you can do! Today we picked up over 4 tons of trash." [Clips of college age students picking up.]
"This coming April 11th, Vine & Fig encourages you to join hundreds of your fellow community members in keeping Harrisonburg beautiful. Check out our website www.vineandfighburg.org for more details and make sure to mark your calendar for April 11th!"
