  •     The directors use of dialect for characters gives the audience a deeper understanding of the text. The way characters speak can give the audience a deeper understanding of a character without explicitly stating it. Example those who use ¨y'all¨ instead of ¨you all¨ can be implied to be from the south. Dialect can also help  the audience understand what type of lifestyle the character experienced. Example someone who speaks prim and properly can be implied to be from a richer area compared to an area that speaks mostly slang. Last, the way a character speaks can help the audience determine where the character is or isn't from. Example a character who speaks in broken English is implied to not be from any English speaking countries.
