It all started the day after David Parker's dad moved away. New neighbors moved in next door with an ugly, fat dog. They were called Mr. and Mrs. Clapham and they were not easy to get along with. So, it was fortunate that they decided to move out a couple weeks later... If they hadn't left their dog, Monty.
Get your dog off the road or I'll run right over him!
Monty had the tendency to try to get himself killed. On one of those attempt, David was there and decided to take pity on the dog he loathed and brought him home.
I'm coming to visit you this summer after all. Only for few days, though. I can't leave my dog for long.
Come here, boy.
After David had taken Monty in, David was home alone one day and heard some noises downstairs. They were getting robbed! He heard someone come into his room, but before the robber could touch him, Monty had grabbed hold of the robbers arm! The robber swore and kicked Monty, but Monty had scared him away.
Just some bruised ribs, but he is not in good general condition. He has eczema and infections on his skin
After David had called the police, the police drove Monty and David to the vet. David's mom was on her way there too.
What is wrong with him?
After that, it became David's mission to restore Monty to what he was supposed to look like. His Dad also called. It was the fist time he had spoken to his dad since he had left.
