Storyboard Text

  • As the cell grows, preparing itself for division, it duplicates the DNA inside its nucleus. This process is interphase, preparing the cell for mitosis.
  • Cell Mitosis Comic Strip - Annika Ajay
  • Our human's knee has been scraped. Time to fix it!
  • Now comes Prophase, where spindle fibers form, centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell, the nucleus starts to disappear, and chromosomes condense and become visible.
  • Metaphase is next, and chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell.
  • Spindle Fibers
  • Centrioles
  • The next stage in mitosis is Anaphase. First, chromosomes break up in two chromatids, and then they move to opposite poles
  • Almost getting there! Our next stage is Telophase, where nuclear membranes reform, chromosomes unwind, and two daughter cells form.
  • Finally, is Cytokinesis, where the cytoplasm and organelles divide. One cell becomes two, and a cell can now be replaced!
  • A job well done!
