  • StoryBoard Final ProjectBooks read: I read Ashes of the Sun and within the book Maya was born with a rare disease. In the book her parents sold her out to the military forces so that she might have a chance at the life she deserved. I wondered while reading this book how families are affected by unknown disease and what they do to uncover a cure.I read the book Enchantment of ravens and within the book some of the characters had trained animals to help them do their bidding . I wondered how the utilisation of animals could help us understand new technological advances.
  • Question 1: What are families willing to sacrifice in order to protect loved ones from disease?
  • In May of 2000 a child was born with a rare disease know as clover leaf syndrome. His family did everything they could to afford surgeries for his illness in the first year of his life. His father lost his job for paying so much of his attention to finding a cure for this illness. They started a foundation to raise awareness and money for families in the similar situations."Shining Light on a Rare Disease." Registered Rep, 1 Oct. 2014. • Animal experimentation has been used throughout history to find possible cures for mystery diseases and cancers. Scientists are able to find a cure in using yeast then evolving the cure up to animals like cats. These dna sequences are similar but not to humans, but they can be used to help identify the ideal type of solution for disease in humans.Tudge, Colin. "Animal passions." • Question Two: Can we learn how to control animals for scientific/ disease research?
  • Unknown contagious diseases can be transferred from animals ,but it can also help us understand how to control or defend against future disease. African Swine Fever is a disease found in pigs commonly in Asia and Europe. Learning and studying infected animals helps us determine what safety procedures we should take and how we can more forward to make sure this disease doesn't get into our population."Keeping foreign animal diseases far away critical." • Question Three:How can animals be used to help humans understand how to defend and protect against unknown diseases?
  • Scientists have found a way to uncover human genetic code. Utilising this code could help solve and advance the technology used for disease control. Using new genetic coding vaccines can help create unique cures specialised from person to person. Hamburg, Margaret. • Question four: How can we utilise the information we gain to find cures or advances in scientific technology?
  • After reading both novels and researching I have concluded that animals play a major role in disease and scientific research. If we can understand how animals are affected and how the situation can be handled we can then start to research a way to convert it to match human genes.
