In each town they marched through the natives would either join or rebel. Those who rebelled were killed

When the Spaniards reached Tenochtitlan they were amazed. The Aztecs allowed them to stay in the city
Normally, the Aztecs would kill intruders on sight. But the Aztecs thought the Spanirds were gods here to save them from the end of the world.

A case of small pox raised through the Aztec kingdom killing millions. The Europeans who were used to the sickness were able to withstand the disese
The Spaniards pillaged the Aztecs gold, and sent it back to Spain
The Spaniards built a new city over the ruins of Tenochtitlan, destroying the Aztecs. But Mexican people relate to the Aztecs as the their ancestors. And show the Aztecs culture all over the city.
Over the ruins of Tenochtitlan, now stands Mexico City.
