  • Monhenjo-Daro is home to approximetnly 35,000 people!
  • This city was built nearly 5,000 years ago
  • Homes
  • Over time the Indus Valley civilization began building houses on top of others 
  • Monhenjo-Daro has areas of the city for the wealthy and for the poor
  •  Shower Rooms and Sanitation
  •  For showers the Indus people had a brick shower tray to stand on then poured water on themselves
  • In the center of Monhenjo-Daro they had a well where everyone would get clean water
  • The Indus people believed that the Great Bath was holy and could remove sins
  • The Great Bath
  • Worshipers will bathe in this water before entering a temple or religious site
  •   Use of Seals 
  • The Indus people used seals as tags
  • A seal is a piece of flat stone with carvings made into them by the Indus people
  • Distant Trade and Trade Products
  • The Indus distant traders traded pots, cotton, food, and animals 
  • Distant traders would trade whatever food farmers or cloth and beads the city workers gave them and deliver them to other lands
