  • Uniformity
  • Citizens Under Surveillance
  • Throughout the story every one tries to use perfect language so that nobody gets offended. Everyone in the comunitee is given the same dwelling books and clothes, to minimize jealousy. The communitee has climate control so that food can be made year long.
  • No independent thoughts
  • Nobody in the community can not point out someone else's flaws. Everybody looks very similar with medium colored hair, and medium colored skin.
  • Oppressive Government
  • There are always surveillance cameras watching what everybody is doing, and the announcer can at anytime remind the citizens the rules if any of the rules are broken.
  • Lack of Free Will
  • Throughout the story, the citizens are not allowed to change the rues in the community. The story says that when every someone tries to change a rule the comity of elders talk about it for so long that the community forgets about their request.
  • The government causes a lot of oppression by giving every one three strikes before they get kicked out of the community. Having three strikes makes the community nervous of making mistakes.
  • In the community nobody is allowed to out side of their dwelling past dark. Neither is the community allowed to choose when they want to get a bike. Nobody is allowed to choose how they want to dress.
