Sam Westing was a hard working, self educated man who was 65 years old. We learned this straight from the text, which makes it direct characterization.
Although Sam Westing was hard working and self educated, he did enjoy having parties, and he would celebrate important times. This is not directly stated and must be figured out by the quote Games and feasting followed the pageant, and at sunset Mr. Westing put on his uncle sam costume and set off fireworks from his front lawn" (Raskin 19)
Howdy There Pal!!!!!
Sam Westing changed throughout the book, in the beginning of the book we knew that Sam Westing was dead and that he died in his house and somebody killed him. However, at the end of the story, we knew that Westing faked his death and played role as Northrup and Sandy McSouthers, the doorman.
Its Halloween! Lets Celebrate!!
