On June 30th the Union army and the Confederate army met in Pennsylvania and started a battle on July 1.
On July 1st The confederate army pushed the union back through Gettysburg. The Union Army regrouped at the cemetery ridge and kept the high ground.
Many people died on this day.
On July 2 General Lee had the idea to launch an attack on the Union on the left side of their defense. The Confederate and the Union started shooting cannon balls at each other and then the Union stopped shooting and the

On the third day of The Battle of Gettysburg General Pickett led a charge with 15,000 men on the Confederate side. The confederate launched the attack right up the gut of the Union Almost every single Confederate members died that day.
Through out the whole battle over 50,000 people went either missing, got wounded, or died. 23,000 on the Union side 3,155 dead, 14,000 wounded, and 5,365 went missing. 28,000 on the Confederate side.
The Gettysburg Address was one of the greatest speech's of all time. It was a short but moving speech that president Lincoln gave this speech on November 19, 1863. It was about how Lincoln praised all the Union soldiers that either went missing, died, or got injured.
