Chief, you must survive! We are quickly losing our people!
Exploration from Europe
Soliders be prepared for any ambush. The rest of you get unpacking and set up the camp. The ones who I told specifically get shovels and look for gold.
Oh new people who are you? Are you Gods?
Get ready! The Spanish are coming!
The Mississipians were the first to encounter the Europeans. They were able to create permanent towns since they had a sustainable food source. These natives had a more complex society, where the higher up people lived on top of mounds. The Europeans killed hundreds of Mississipians by the diseases brought by them, their use of advanced technology, and the phycological advantage of fear.
Hernando De Soto was the first European to explore parts of Georgia. He originally came for gold, but also considered god and glory a goal. The gold was for treasures and riches while power and owning land was "glory". Converting the natives to Christianity were also a priority. The explorers arrived with unknown items such as horses which feared the natives and they believed they were Gods.
England began to settle along the Atlantic coastline. Georgia was considered a "buffer" colony to protect the other English settlements. A successful colony had an abundance of natural resources and a good military system.
