Hey man, which lesson in class did you miss? Mitosis or Meiosis
I missed the Mitosis lesson. Could you catch me up on it really quick?
Yeah sure. You start with 92 chromosomes. The first step is Interphase, during this phase chromosomes make a copy of its DNA and the cell grows to its mature size. The cell prepares to divide into two cells.
The second step of would be Prophase. In this step chromatin in the nucleus condense to form chromosomes. Spindle fibers form bridge between the poles.
The third step is Metaphase . During metaphase Chromatid attaches to the spindle fibers. The chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell.
The fourth step is Anaphase. The centromeres split. During the fourth phase chromatids separate and begin to move to opposite ends of the cell, pulled along by the spindle fibers. The cell becomes stretched out as the opposite ends pull apart
We're almost at the end of this process. The last two steps are Telophase and Cytokenisis. The fifth phase Telophase is when the chromosomes begin to stretch out and lose their rod like appearance. Then, two new nuclei form; mitosis end. The last step cytokenisis is when the cell membrane moves inward to create two daughter cells each with its own nucleus and identical chromosomes
