Sire, we have we have successfully invaded the Babylonian Empire!
Hmm, how can we improve the trade in our kingdom?
The people who live in our kingdom should be free to practice their religion.
In 539 B.C.E., the Persians successfully invaded the Babylonian empire and took over.
Unlike other rulers, the Persians worked to increase trade throughout their kingdom. Rather than destroy local economies.
King Cyrus allowed for people who lived in his empire to live free to their religion even though he was not polytheistic or at least known to be. An example of this was when he allowed the Hebrews, who had been slaves in Babylon for over fifty years to return to their holy city of Jerusalem.
When Alexander the Great rose to power in 331 B.C.E., he put the final stop to Persians trying to expand their empire. Even thought Alexander was only 20, he was much more than a military strategist.
Sire, we have lost the war to Alexander the great!
