After a pan of a support group circle we meet the director of the group, the ventriloquist's puppet. however the ventriloquist is nowhere to be seen.
The Clown introduces himself and his profession and begins to tell the tale of why he is in a support group of children entertainers.
We see the clown in his messy house, doing nothing in particular. As a voiceover he explains that he has always been lonely, never having any family to be with. He took up being a clown as he thought this would be a way to have fun.
On his first day of being a children's clown the children turned against him. They were loud and jumped around him. He could not control them. he finally shouted at them, causing a scene of crying children in front of all the parents.
There was one party where the kids had a piñata. One little boy, who was much too aggressive in his bat swings hit the clown in the balls. Ever since that one party, he has hated kids.
We learn that the only reason the clown is doing this is because he is poor, and there isn't anywhere good that will hire a middle aged man with no qualifications. he struggles with the life of a clown.
