  • in march 1985 Clive developed an influenza-type illness. the symptoms included headache and fever.
  • he was admitted to hospital where he was diagnosed with herpes simplex viral encephalitis (HSVE) he was given medication which probably saved his life. however, the virus had already destroyed large parts of his brain
  • clive was referred to Barbara Wilson in 1985, he had been found out to be suffering 'extremely severe episodic memory deficits. 
  • your memory is very damaged
  • Clive was assessed in November 1985, his verbal and IQ tests were found to be within the 'average' range.  
  • your a gifted man 
  • in 1991 Clive had his first MRI scan,he was then given another one in 2006, the second scan showed that there had been a little change . it also showed he had extensive damage to his temporal corticles
