Finnley the fennec fox peacefully sleeps under a tamarisk tree in the Sahara Desert, the ecosystem he calls his home. When suddenly, he is awoken by a little mouse. "Help! Help!" the little mouse shouts.
"What is all the yelling?" Finnley asks as he quickly wakes up. "Please help protect me. A mean sand viper is trying to eat me!" Suddenly Finnley sees a sand viper slithering towards him. "Here mousy mousy." says the sand viper.
"Hey, that's not very nice." Finnley scolds the viper. "But I'm hungry." he responds, "And you know how it works around here." "Not this mouse, he's mt friend." "But mice are my main food source, and i eat them to maintain balance in the ecosystem." argues the hungry viper.
The sand viper thought to himself, why would this fox stop him, its the food pyramid. Producers like plants were eaten by primary consumers like mice and lizards . The primary consumers were eaten by secondary consumers like himself and Finnley and finally tertiary consumers like a black kite bird would eat the secondary consumers .
"This mouse is my new friend and I'm showing her around because she is new to the area." says Finnley pulling the viper out of his thoughts. "I'm sorry i didn't know" replies the viper, "my name is Simon, maybe I can be your friend too!" "Of course you can!" exclaims the little mouse.
Finally stepping out of hiding the little mouse happily looks at Simon. "I'm Olivia!" VROOM VROOM "What was that?" shouts Olivia. "Those are the humans running over our homes," replies Simon, "they destroy our environment. To keep our ecosystems clean and keep all of our animal friends safe, please keep our homes safe and clean of pollutants."
