Storyboard Text

  • 4.6 billion years ago CO2 and other gases were introduced into the atmosphere. It was mainly CO2 and water vapour.
  • As simple organisms start to photosynthesize the CO2 levels start to decrease.
  • The animals who eat these plants then get some of the carbon transferred into their tissue.
  • The skeletons then over a million years build up at the bottom of the ocean.
  • They also get covered in layers of fine sediment. Trapping CO2 which then becomes sedimentary carbonate rocks.
  • The rocks also traps the gas underneath the rocks causing a loss in CO2
