  • George went to India to be part of the Imperial Police force to protect the Burmese people.
  • Climax
  • However George is unsure if he should please the Burmese people or to continue to live in fear of them.
  • Falling Action
  • An elephant goes rampage and winds up killing a man and destroying everything.
  • Resolution
  • George goes to stop if but as he approaches he is stunned by how peaceful it's behaving and starts to have second thoughts of shooting it. However he winds up shooting it anyways.
  • Since then he has regretted his decision about shooting the elephant, and there have been many discussions whether it was the right decision or not.
  • After retiring from his job as a officer for the India Imperial Police force he became a writer.
