Storyboard Text

  • It is class time. The teacher is giving directions. She tells the class there will be group work today.
  • STOP!
  • The teacher will be assigning partners, rather than letting you select your own. She says you will be with someone you are not friends with, and you loudly growl about that.
  • Because this is a person that not someone that you want to work with, you move your desk farther away from her. You also communicate only by typing on a shared document. Your growling and your refusing to communicate has hurt your partner's feelings.
  • STOP! Good group work requires working together and communicating. While you don't have empathy for others, you know that hurting someone's feelings is not something you should do and it will not help you and your partner complete your task.
  • You remember the group work rules: 1. Sit near your partner, 2. face your partner, 3. look at your partner, 4. communicate with your partner, 5. allow diverse ideas.
  • You get your group work done. Your partner's feelings are not hurt. You did a great job with your group work.
