  • Most of the French population is a poor third estate that get over taxed. The second and first estate do not get taxed and overspend on luxury items.
  • Haitian Revolution Motive
  • The third estate calls for a meeting to vote on tax and equality. People start protesting and eventually revolting overtaking the King and Queen.
  • Haitian Revolution Method
  • Third estate and some second estate members come together and form a union which now makes he decisions. This is later taken over by Napoleon
  • Haitian Revolution Change
  • Slavery in the land owned by France sparks a revolution after news of french revolution arrives. Slaves realize that their freedom should be given and they start to rebel.
  • At first they try to negotiate a peaceful end, but the whites refuse. Next they start attacking and burning farms and taking over land.
  • All men are declared free no matter what skin color. Slave trade stops in this area.
