Storyboard Text

  • This setting takes place in Long Island, New York around the 1920s. The West Egg (new money) & the East Egg (old money).
  • Nick meets Tom's mistress, Myrtle, at the apartment Tom & Myrtle have in the city. This is where Nick finds out about Tom cheating on Daisy.
  • On their way back from the city Daisy is upset and speeds through the Valley of Ashes. Myrtle thought it was Tom and runs out in the street for him to stop. Daisy hits Myrtle and drives away without stopping.
  • Tom starts talking to Daisy about how they need to go away until all of the drama clams down. Daisy is very overwhelmed and scared so she goes with Tom.
  • Mr. Wilson shots Gatsby while he is swimming in his pool. As Gatsby takes his last breathe he reaches out to that same green light in the water. He reaches out for hope, trying to get something close but yet so far away.. Daisy.
  • The theme in The Great Gatsby is you cant dwell on the past. Throughout the whole book Gatsby believe that you can redo the past and believed Daisy would eventually come back to him. In reality, Daisy only cared about herself.
