- The ice age was a very long period of time when the earth was covered in glaciers and continents were bound together, life didn't develop into humans until the late stages of the iceage. During this time period it was diffucult for the human race to survive, they had long cold nights and days hunting for foods in nomadic groups against vicious animals.

- The Enola Gay dropped the Atomic bomb on Japan resulting in thousands of deaths.

- The war of roses lasted 22 years between the house of Lancaster and York, it was a series of civil wars over the throne of England.

- The teacher wanted to use the literal meaning of the words Ice age as being "cold" and lasting a short period of time.
- The students know that an atom is a small harmless molecule, using the plane as a simple device to drop off a molecule the teacher didn't want the kids to think that a bomb had destroyed Japan.
- The teacher used the literary term of roses to make it seem that the war was a small quick matter that happened in a garden making it seem nice.
