The title story I've been reading is Took by Mary Downing Hahn. The setting takes place in Woodville, West Virginia where very unusual things happen every 50 years. It just so happened to be the next 50 years to come around for Daniel and his family.
The first conflict of the story is that Daniel and his little sister hated the fact that they had to move away from all their friends back in Connecticut. The next conflict that happens is Daniel's little sister Erica goes missing in the woods when she runs out to find her doll that Daniel made her leave. Now Daniel has to try and find and save his sister from the old lady that stole his sister
Come back here!
Come on Erica now!!!
Noo, I have to stay and clean
When Daniel found Erica she was in a cabin scrubbing the floors crying. The old lady made Erica work all day and all night. Once Daniel was able to sneak Erica out of the cabin he had to make her remember him, and their mom and dad. Once every thing was back to normal Daniel and his family started to meet new people and make now friends. The theme of the story is to never be quick to not like something, in other words take chances.
