- The cricket will eat the grass making it the primary consumer. A primary consumer are usually herbivores that feed on autotrophic plants.

- Next, a frog will hop along and eat the cricket making the frog a secondary consumer. A secondary consumers are organisms that eat primary consumers for energy. However, secondary consumers can either be carnivores or omnivores.
