Storyboard Text

  • Have you ever thought about what your future career would look like? It has probably crossed your mind
  • And frankly, I'm not at all surprised! Like many of you, I'll be starting grade 9 this year and the topic of my career has been in my mind more than ever
  • What is he talking about????/
  • I enrolled in the grade 10 summer school career's course and it has been an eye opener! The course has so far introduced the different pathways in order to reach a career goal
  • It's quite possible that my goals can be altered and/or changed. But for now, I've had the opportunity to identify the skills I've acquired and enjoy using
  • During my time in middle school, I've developed skills in mathematics to solve problems, communication through reading and writing in both English and French, leadership through active listening and public speaking.
  • My skills have been further enhanced outside of school as a junior reporter for CBC Kids News. This could very well lead to a career in journalism, but I still have a lot to learn.
  • My time in high school has given me an opportunity to improve/gain skills in problem solving, primarily in math by exploring advanced subjects.
  • When I eventually finish grade 12, I'll be at the next stage; starting a college/university life.
  • And my time in high school has hopefully made the topic of my career a primary focus which has resulted me in, taking CBC more seriously
  • My communication skills have hopefully reached a new level as I've probably to me participated in speech competitions and debate clubs. Joining student council or even running for president have hopefully enhanced my leadership skills
  • Some of which include classes in math, literature and more.
  • Here we are in college/university, the final stage. I've probably chosen certain programs that carry my interests.
  • And CBC has probably become my career focus. Journalism is definitely something I'll be taking as a class
  • Being more independent with my school work is definitely a skill I'll be learning during my time in university/college and I'll hopefully carry on in my first permanent job
  • However, anything can change. The career path I have illustrated can go in another direction at any moment. Who knows what the future holds!
  • This is the ideal destination I would like to end off my educational years with; working as a journalist/news anchor
