This is when they have a box that has a bunch of envelops or cards that either have blank or the peoples names with written or blank stuff on it.
When school was done, the children run around collecting stones. They put the stones in their pockets and make a pile in the square.
This is when Mr. Summers calls their names, each member of the family comes up and draws a paper.
This is when Tessie gets chosen, so the villagers grab stones and run towards Tessie and everyone begins throwing stones at her.
In this story lottery represents death and having someone to draw the cards out of the box and who ever's name gets pulled will die.
