Lual, his mother, and his sister start their journey to America.
During their journey to America from South Sudan, Luals' sisters pass away due to illness. Though he does not specifically remember his sisters, he says they hold a special place in his heart.
Lual and his mother, after a long difficult journey, are so close to freedom. Soon they will arrive in America (I did not know what type of transport they took to get to America, so I just went with a plain boat).
When Lual and his mother reach America (again, there isn't specific verification on where they arrived, but I thought that the Statue of Liberty was appropriate).
After being at the refugee camp for almost as long as he can remember, Lual gets his first laptop from his mother. His mother slowly put money aside to buy a computer. The ref. camp does not have internet or power, so Lual would have to walk across the whole camp to charge his computer at a small corner of the camp with power. There, he meets his friend, who gives him his first video game. Grand Theft Auto. Lual knows then and there he wants to make video games when he grows up.
Today, Lual Mayan is a video game developer. He developed a game called Salaam. In this game, you are in the position of a refugee. Lual wanted to create a game that doesn't promote violence, but helps you realize what happens in other countries.
