Storyboard Text

  • Ophelia Act 1, Scene 3
  • "He hath, my lord, of late made many tenders of his affection to me. I do not know, my lord, what I should think."
  • "Marry, I'll teach you. Think yourself a baby that you have ta'en these tenders for true pay, which are not sterling."
  • Ophelia Act 2, Scene 1
  • "O my lord, my lord, I have been so affrighted! Hamlet took me by the wrist and held me hard...For out o'doors he went without their helps, and to the last bended their light on me."
  • "Come, go with me. I will go seek the King. This is the very ecstasy of love, whose violent property fordoes itself and leads the will to desperate undertakings as oft s any passion under heaven that does afflict our natures. I am sorry."
  • Ophelia Act 3, Scene 1
  • "Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so."
  • "Then i guess I was misled."
  • "You should not have believed me, for virtue cannot so inoculate."
  • "This was sometime a paradox, but now the time gives proof. I did love you once."
  • I chose this particular line and scene because this is where Ophelia is introduced to us. Women are also already able to relate to her because she has this man telling her all these wonderful things that women want to hear, but doesn't know if she should believe what he is saying to her or to believe her brother and father and stay away from him.
  • This is where Ophelia chose to listen to her father, but is realizing that he he told her to do might not have been the best thing for her because Hamlet obviously likes her and could do anything he needed to do to see her and get to her. Ophelia is afraid at this point and doesn't really understand what is going on with Hamlet.
  • In this act, Ophelia finally sees Hamlets true colors. Hamlet is over Ophelia and takes back everything he said about her and loving her. He also yells at her and says that she should never have kids. I chose this particular part of the act because i think it shows how relationships don't always work and that if you don't know if you can believe what a man is saying to you, if its true or not, then you shouldn't still try to be with them.
