There are some rules of writing a formal email.
There should be a proper subject, introduction, beginning, middle and end and a proper conclusion/finishing and many more things!
So first you start with the subject of the mail. You write a sensible subject. Then you start with the mail by writing the purpose of your mail and why are you writing it with the person's name you are writing it to.
