  • Pacem!
  • Still not enough. If you cannot pay the government your taxes we are taking your farm!
  • Young Adela, is growing up a young Roman citizen used to the peace and fairness of the Republic. Here she finds herself in their bustling Forum where she intends to assist her father and learn the process of selling products from their family farm.
  • Exactly!!
  • I mean who really cares right? These are not even our people we are protecting!!
  • Exactly!!
  • Exactly!!
  • Some time later, Adela and her fellow Roman citizens find themselves growing fearful for their once equal Republic has been growing into an Empire with dictators constantly battling for power, that not all the citizens believe can rule their land well.
  • Adela, we must leave our home. It has fallen and we need to find somewhere that will help us prosper.
  • Help
  • Help Save Rome
  • Life moved on and as the government evolved into autocratic rule. Adela, now older, had started a family on her father's farm when she married her husband Cato. They struggled to survive, for their income from the farm did not meet the high taxes required to pay.
  • Cato, hurry up with dinner! It is getting late.
  • As taxation increased, the middle class, like Adela, became poor. These taxes were mostly payment to German mercenaries who helped protect the Roman's borders. These hired soldiers were not Roman resulting in a lack of determined fighters.
  • With economic and political issues, the Roman Empire dwindled into a nation lacking patriotism. Now sickly, starved and old Adela had lost hope in her once thriving home. She walked the streets of the once great city trying to find a home admits the ruins.
  • Finally, the once grand Roman Empire had fallen and the land divided. Adela and Cato found an old cabin they made their home. A perfect place to conclude their life. Years later a "New Roman Empire" would arise from its ashes, the Byzantine Empire.
