Rock for ES Unit 3 Project
This storyboard does not have a description.
This is the story of Rocky, the rock. He goes through the rock cycle like any other. We will see him change to different kinds of rock, and the different experiences he has.
Hi everyone! I'm Rocky!
One sunny day, rocky felt the Earth begin to shake. Lava began pouring out of the volcano above his head, and suddenly he felt an intense heat all around him. He began to melt, joining the cooling metamorphic rock around him.
It's getting hot in here...
Weathering brought Rocky down the side of the volcano and dropped him in a crevice. The crevice filled with rainwater by the base of the volcano, creating a stream, which picked him up and carried him, along with other rocks nearby.
Weeee! I'm being carried on a lazy river!
The flowing stream smoothed out Rocky's rough edges, and eventually deposited him at a shallow basin with many other sediments.
Wow, I clean up real nice. All that water flowing over me smoothed me down.
Soon many sediments were deposited on top and around Rocky. He started to feel pressured and compacted.
Uh... Guys? I'm really squished under here...
Rocky has now been turned into sedimentary rock, and weathering eroded him again down to sediments. He has been broken up over time into a fine sand on this beach, and will eventually be pulled into the ocean and settle in a crevice to melt back into magma.
Ooooohhhh I'm fiiiiiine! Oh no I'm being carried away again! Ahhhhh! I'm melting faster than the Wicked Witch of the West!
