Storyboard Text

  • I asked my friends about the Cold War and they told me about Berlin.
  • The cold war has no correlation to the temperature, the cold war was actually through the summer too.
  • I wish it was as cold as the Cold War.
  • Well,Son
  •  Joseph Stalin, the dictator of the Soviet Union, was expected to spread communism around the world. The United States, who used to be partners with the Soviet Union, was very worried that the Soviet Union would spread a type of government which many people disliked.
  • So what was the cold war about then?
  • Communism was the type of government that let everyone share the same amount of money. This might sound good at first, but that gives the government too much power over the country's economy.
  • This is cool and all, but what is Communsim? By the way, I love standing here.
  •  One side of Berlin was communist while the other was a democracy. This was caused by the Soviet Union and their drive to a communist world.  They built a wall called the Berlin Wall showing that the Union had control over their actions and stopped people from entering or exiting East Berlin.
  • President Truman came up with an idea on how to convince Europe to join America's side instead of the Union's, this was called the Marshall Plan. In the plan, the United States stated that by giving Europe 13 billion dollars to rebuild after World War 2, it would lower their chances of taking the Union's  side.
  • So what did the President do about the Cold War?
  • Why is this war called Cold War?
  • The Soviet Union didn't like the United States since they launched an atom bomb on the Union causing the end of World War 2. This was thought to be a good move; however, once they launched the bomb, there was yet another war to overcome.  This first bomb led to the creation of many others, creating competition between the Soviet Union and the United States. Both countries knew that this battle would not be won as it would lead to destruction. Unlike the many wars that have occurred in our history, the Cold War shows the tension between the Soviet Union and the United States.
