  • A mental illness is a disorder in your brain that makes your body function improperly.
  • Post Traumatic Stress disorder is a disorder that is caused from seeing a terrifying incident. An example of a type of group that can suffer from this disorder combat veterans who suffer from this disorder from fighting wars.
  • PTSD can occur at any age. It occurs more often in women than in men.
  • Symptoms are usually depression, shutting self indoors, excluding self from group activities. Current treatments are medications, therapy, and trying to be around friends and family.
  • War veterans brought PTSD to the public's attention.
  • But anyone can get it.
  • PTSD can be caused by a threat or physical harm.
  • The harm that caused the illness to the person could have been the one getting harmed or it was someone they saw who was harmed.
