Storyboard Text

  • October 5, 1970 - Two members of the FLQ kidnap British diplomat James Cross.
  • Release our political prisoners and read our manifesto or we'll kill him!
  • Several days later, the FLQ Manifesto is broadcasted on CBC. A few days after that, Quebec Minister Pierre Laporte is kidnapped by members of the Chenier cell of the FLQ.
  • Remove the colonial establishment!
  • Haha! We kidnapped another government official!
  • PM Pierre Trudeau brings in the military to defend federal buildings and government members.
  • Just watch me.
  • What's with all these men with guns around here? How much further would you go?
  • Separatist groups speak at the Universite de Montreal, and the FLQ's lawyer Robert Lemieux organizes a 3000-student rally.
  • I don't like this...
  • Yay! Go FLQ!
  • "We are going to win because there are more boys ready to shoot members of Parliament than there are policemen."
  • Support the FLQ! Boycott classes!
  • October 16, 1970 - Pierre Trudeau proclaims the War Measures Act, allowing arrest and detainment on only suspicion, without habeas corpus.
  • No lawyer for you!
  • Suspected terrorist (but probably completely innocent, just went to one rally)
  • You're under arrest!
  • We'll kill him too!
  • Pierre Laporte is found murdered in the trunk of a car. The FLQ threatens to kill Cross as well.
